Mercedes-Benz Vision Tokyo
The Vision Tokyo is a homage to the urban Generation Z, the cohort of people born since 1995 who have grown up with the new media. The role of the vehicle has changed for this global generation: it is no longer simply a means of getting around, but a digital, automobile companion. The Vision Tokyo takes things another step further: innovative algorithms allow it to evolve constantly; Deep Machine Learning and an intelligent Predictive Engine mean that, with each journey, it becomes more and more familiar with its occupants, their likes and preferences. All of which makes the Vision Tokyo the perfect partner for Generation Z.
The spaciousness of the Vision Tokyo marks a new conceptual approach for Mercedes-Benz Cars. These proportions are emphasised by the monochrome Alubeam paintwork and by side windows screen-printed in the colour of the vehicle. These give the vehicle's occupants privacy, while at the same time allowing sufficient light to penetrate into the interior and an unimpeded view out.
Surfaces and lines illuminated in blue – among them the 26-inch wheels and the side skirts – provide unexpected colour highlights and are indicative of the concept car's emission-free electric drive system. A pointer to the potential for autonomous operation and the comprehensive system of vehicle environment sensors that this requires, including a 360-degree camera, is provided by the fin on the vehicle roof.
Instead of a conventional windscreen, the Vision Tokyo features a continuous stretch of glass panelling – similar to the glazed cockpit of a powerboat. As was the case with the AMG Vision Gran Turismo, the front headlamps are set well to either side and at an angle. The area across the front of the vehicle can be used to display a series of different lighting functions. If music is playing inside the vehicle the display will, for example, visualise a sound pattern, rather like a sound analyser. The rear window is set into a surrounding ring of red LED cubes, which gives it visual depth. Once again, the LED field can be put to good use – as an indicator display or as part of the analyser function.
The bodyshell of the Vision Tokyo has been designed to allow the crash-protected integration of a fuel cell-powered electric drive system. This is based on the trailblazing F-CELL PLUG-IN HYBRID of the F 015 Luxury in Motion and combines the on-board generation of electricity with a particularly powerful and compact high-voltage battery that can be charged contactlessly via induction. The use of pressure tanks made from CFRP is envisaged for the storage of hydrogen in the concept car. The electric hybrid system has a total range of 980 kilometres, of which some 190 kilometres are courtesy of battery-powered driving and around 790 kilometres on the electricity produced in the fuel cell.
2016 Porsche Macan GTS - Official Launch
The new GTS version of the Porsche Macan is inspired by motor racing. A reengineered chassis, 20 hp more power than the Macan S and reinforced brakes supply the wherewithal. In terms of power and torque, its 360 horsepower (265 kW) and 500 Nm place the Macan GTS between the Macan and the Macan Turbo. The technical basis for this comprises the three-litre V6 bi-turbo engine of the Macan S accompanied by the Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) and Porsche Traction Management (PTM) with flexible power distribution between front and rear axles. Thus, the Macan GTS completes the sprint from zero to 100 km/h in 5.2 seconds – and in just 5.0 seconds with the optional Sport Chrono package. Top speed is 256 km/h. Features in the typical GTS styling round off the sporty impression.
The Macan GTS combines a high level of typical Porsche driving dynamics with outstanding everyday utility. A sportier tuning of the PASM chassis that is lowered by 15 millimetres, along with 20-inch wheels in RS Spyder design with matt black paint finish and mixed tyres are features of the GTS equipment. Also in keeping with the style are the standard GTS sport seats with Alcantara centre panels, additional Alcantara trim in the interior as well as a full-sounding sports exhaust system. The new Porsche Communication Management (PCM) is celebrating its SUV debut in the Macan GTS. Together with the optional Connect Plus module, the high-quality multi-touch monitor offers online navigation with real-time traffic information and smartphone integration via Apple CarPlay.
The Macan GTS can be recognised at first glance by exterior accents in black – in high gloss above the waistline and in a lustrous matt finish in the lower areas of the body – and by a special version of the Sport Design package, also in GTS-specific colouring, that comes as a standard feature. For the first time, the Macan GTS is also available with the option of LED headlights including Porsche Dynamic Light System Plus. They guarantee optimum illumination of the road under all conditions.
Thanks to its special qualities, the new Macan GTS offers even more driving fun and even more Porsche feeling. With this model, Porsche is once more underlining its claim that the Macan is the sports car among compact SUVs.
Sales of the Macan GTS in Germany commence on October 28, 2015. The price including VAT and country-specific equipment is 73,400 euros.

2017 Acura NSX - Official Test Drive
The dynamic capabilities and zero-delay responses of the new Acura NSX are enabled by the exploitation of advanced powertrain technologies. This concept of utilizing next-generation technology to deliver a New Sports eXperience is epitomized by the adoption of a Sport Hybrid power unit.
At the heart of this new hybrid power unit is a bespoke, mid-mounted twin-turbocharged, 75-degree 3.5-liter DOHC V6 engine with dry sump lubrication, mated to an all-new 9-speed dual clutch transmission (9DCT) and Direct-Drive Motor. This is augmented by the front Twin Motor Unit (TMU) driving the front wheels. The NSX Sport Hybrid power unit offers exceptional horsepower and torque with a broad powerband for tremendous throttle response and acceleration. Total system peak output is estimated at 573 horsepower - 500 hp from the gasoline engine and 73 hp from the front TMU.
The direct and linear acceleration and dynamic response of the new NSX is enabled in part by its front-mounted Twin Motor Unit (TMU). It is a major driving force in creating the vehicle's superlative zero-delay acceleration and can directly generate a yaw moment to support turning, and also recovers braking energy during deceleration.
The TMU provides instant torque as well as AWD traction, allowing direct and stress free launches from start. In addition to improving 0-to-60 mph and quarter-mile times, this zero-delay acceleration response allows the driver to experience a heightened sense of G-loading that invigorates the senses, an adrenaline rush as accelerative forces push the body into the seat. Most importantly, the Sport Hybrid SH-AWD works in harmony with the poised chassis and brake system to provide intuitive brake pedal and steering feel so the driver always feels completely in control.
The TMU is geared to support acceleration up to 200 kph, but continues to support Direct Yaw Control at all vehicle speeds. It is also a key enabling technology for driving in the Quiet mode setting of the IDS, allowing for hushed vehicle operation by operating the NSX as an electric vehicle.
Featuring a wide V-angle of 75 degrees to help lower the center of gravity, the NSX's twin-turbocharged V6 engine achieves the best balance between power production, overall compactness and reduced mass. With a displacement of 3.5 liters, it combines both direct injection and port injection, along with Variable Timing Control (VTC) to deliver optimal camshaft phasing, for precision combustion control throughout the entire rpm band while simultaneously achieving high power output and performance at high engine speeds.
The new 9-speed dual clutch transmission works in concert with the engine and Direct Drive Motor to make full use of the power unit's broad power band, producing lightning quick gear changes that support the NSX's zero-delay response. As a key component of the Advanced Sports Package, the 9DCT has been optimized for compact size, low mass and low CG.

2016 Audi A4 Avant S line - Footage
The handling of new Audi A4 model line makes a great leap forward: on the one hand sporty and performance oriented, but with a focus on comfort at the same time. The suspension and steering filter out disturbances such as an uneven road surface, but communicate to the driver important information such as increases in lateral forces and tracking. This performance is based on the redeveloped fivelink axles and the electromechanical power steering – they are exceptionally light. They lay the foundation for dynamic handling and first-class ride comfort while also reducing fuel consumption. Additional options are dynamic steering, which varies its ratio according to the car’s speed and the steering angle, and suspension with adjustable shock absorbers with which the driver can for the first time select between two settings: sports or comfort. Both of suspension settings are included in the Audi drive select driving-dynamics system, which is standard equipment for models with engines of 140 kW (190 hp) and above.
The Audi A4 set the benchmark in their class with numerous driver assistance systems. The predictive efficiency assistant helps drivers to save fuel, Audi active lane assist helps them to stay in lane and the Stop&Go adaptive cruise control including traffic-jam assist eases driving in slow-moving traffic. One special feature of traffic-jam assist is its control strategy. It takes into account a large number of parameters such as road markings and the traffic ahead. Some more innovations that make important contributions to safety are parking assist, rear cross-traffic assist, exit warning, collision avoidance assist, turn assist and the Audi pre-sense systems. Camera-based traffic-sign recognition is also available.
The maximum loading volume adds up to 1,510 liters (69 cu ft) with the rear-seat backrest folded flat. That backrest is split 40:20:40 and can be folded down to the seat cushions using levers in the sides of the luggage compartment. With the rear-seat backrest in the normal position, the Audi A4 Avant offers a loading space of 505 liters, which is 15 liters more than the previous model. The loading sill is just 63 centimeters (24.8 in) high and is scratch-protected by a stainlesssteel cover. The loading width is exactly one meter (39.4 in).
2015 Renault Kadjar Crash Tests
The passenger compartment of the Renault Kadjar remained stable in the frontal offset test. The driver dummy scores maximum points, with good protection of all body critical regions and the passenger dummy lost only a fraction of a point, with adequate chest protection. Dummy readings indicated good protection of the knees and femurs of the driver and passenger. Renault showed that a similar level of protection would be provided to occupants of different sizes and to those sat in different positions. In the full-width frontal test, the driver dummy again scored maximum points. The rear passenger dummy had a marginal level of chest protection but all other critical body areas were well protected. The Kadjar provided good protection to all body regions in the side impact barrier test, simulating another car striking the side of the vehicle, and also in the more sever side pole test. The front seats and head restraints provided marginal protection against whiplash injury in the event of a rear-end collision, while a geometric assessment of the rear seats indicated good whiplash protection. An autonomous emergency braking system is available but it is not standard equipment so its low-speed whiplash protection was not assessed.
The Kadjar scored maximum points for its protection of the 11⁄2 year dummy in the frontal offset and side barrier tests. Protection of the 3 year dummy was also good apart from marginally high tensile forces in the neck. In the frontal test, forward movement of the 3 year dummy, sat in a forward-facing restraint, was not excessive and, in the side impact, both dummies were properly contained within the protective shells of their restraints, minimising the likelihood of head contact with parts of the vehicle interior. The front passenger airbag can be disabled to allow a rearward-facing restraint to be used in that seating position. Clear information is provided to the driver regarding the status of the airbag and the system was rewarded. All of the restraint types for which the vehicle is designed could be properly installed and accommodated in the car. Cars before VIN VF1RFE00X53586729 have a very slightly different rear seat cushion and position of the seatbelt buckles.
The bumper provided good protection for pedestrians’ legs and scored maximum points. Protection of the pelvis was at least adequate in all areas tested. The bonnet provided head protection that was predominantly adequate, with good protection towards the centre of the bonnet surface and poor results only at the stiff windscreen pillars.

In addition to all this, BMW is also presenting the latest generation of the BMW Head-Up Display in its new flagship model, not to mention Crossing traffic warning, the Steering and lane control assistant, active side collision protection, the Surround View system with 3D View and Panorama View, and a Remote Control Parking system.
2016 Hyundai Tucson Crash Tests
The passenger compartment remained stable in the offset frontal impact. Dummy readings indicated good protection of the knees and femurs of the driver and passenger dummies. Hyundai showed that a similar level of protection would be provided to occupants of different sizes and to those sat in different positions. For the passenger dummy, protection of all other body regions was also rated as good. In the full-width rigid barrier test, protection of both dummies was good apart from the chest, protection of which was adequate for the front driver and marginal for the rear passenger. In the side barrier impact, protection of all critical body areas was good and the Tucson scored maximum points. However, in the more severe side pole test, dummy readings of rib compression indicated marginal protection of the chest, other critical body regions being well protected. Tests on the front seats and head restraints showed good protection against whiplash injury in the event of a rear-end collision and a geometric assessment indicated the same for rear seat passengers. An autonomous emergency braking system is available which operates from the low speeds typical of city driving at which many whiplash accidents occur. As the system is not standard equipment it was not included in this assessment.
The Tucson scored maximum points in the dynamic crash tests for its protection of the 11⁄2 year dummy. Chest accelerations of the 3 year dummy, sat in a forward facing restraint, were marginally elevated but, otherwise, protection was good. The front passenger airbag can be disabled to allow a rearward-facing child restraint to be used in that seating position. Clear information is provided to the driver regarding the status of the airbag and the system was rewarded. All of the child restraint types for which the Tucson is designed could be properly installed and accommodated in the car.
The Tucson has a deployable bonnet for increased pedestrian protection. Sensors in the bumper detect when a pedestrian has been struck and actuators lift the bonnet, providing greater clearance between the surface and the hard structures in the engine compartment. Hyundai showed that the system worked robustly for a variety of pedestrian statures and over a wide range of speeds. Accordingly, the bonnet was tested in the deployed (raised) position and performed well, showing good protection at almost all test points. Protection of the pelvic region was predominantly poor while the bumper provided mostly good protection to pedestrians' legs.
Bentley's Desert Train Race
85 years after three-time Le Mans winner Captain Woolf Barnato famously raced the ‘Blue Train’ from Cannes to Calais, modern day Bentley Boy, Steven Kane, has reinvigorated the legendary spirit in a tense four-hour 14 minute sprint against Saudi Arabia’s only desert passenger train.
The dune train takes a 480 km route from Riyadh – deep in the heart of the Arabian Peninsula – to Damman on the Arabian Gulf. The new Continental GT V8 S Convertible raced this unique locomotive on August 15th across the scorched, baren landscape and won, with six minutes to spare.
Bentley Team M-Sport driver, Steven Kane, said: “Four hours is the same time as a stint at Le Mans. But this was far more stressful. The heat, the conditions, not knowing where the train was, while driving within the limits of the country’s regulations. It was a race like no other. I hope Barnato would be proud.”
2016 Mazda MX-5 Crash Tests
The passenger compartment of the MX-5 remained stable in the frontal offset test. Dummy readings indicated good protection of the knees and femurs of both the driver and passenger. Mazda showed that a similar level of protection would be provided to occupants of different sizes and to those sat in different positions. The driver's airbag did not have sufficient pressure to prevent the head from making contact with the steering wheel, through the airbag material. Although dummy readings were good, close examination of the traces and analysis of the high speed film showed the contact and protection was rated as adequate. Protection of the passenger was good for all body areas. In the full width rigid barrier test, protection of the driver was good for all parts of the body and that of the passenger was good apart from chest, protection of which was adequate. In the side barrier impact, protection of the chest was adequate and that of all other body areas was good. In the more severe side pole test, chest protection was rated as marginal, with good protection of other critical body areas. The seats and head restraints provided good protection against whiplash injuries in the event of a rear-end collision. The MX-5 does not have an autonomous emergency braking system.
As the MX-5 is a two-seater, the assessment of child protection is based on the features available in the vehicle for safe transportation of children in the front passenger seat, and on the installation of various types of restraints in that seating position. The front passenger airbag can be disabled to allow a rearward facing child restraint to be used in that seating position. Clear information is provided to the driver regarding the status of the airbag and the systenm was rewarded. All of the restraint types for which the MX-5 is designed could be properly installed and accommodated.
The MX-5 has an 'active' bonnet. Sensors in the bumper detect when a pedestrian has been struck and actuators lift the bonnet, creating more space between the surface and the hard structures in the engine compartment. Mazda showed that the bonnet would deploy robustly over a range of speeds and for a variety of pedestrian statures. Accordingly, the bonnet was tested in the deployed (raised) position. Results were almost entirely good over the entire bonnet surface. The bumper scored maximum points for the protection it offered to pedestrians' legs and protection of the pelvis region was also good at all locations.
2016 Porsche 911 Targa 4 - Official Trailer
A sports car with all-wheel drive is the first choice for more than one in three Porsche 911 buyers. With the new 911 Carrera 4 and 911 Targa 4, they now profit from an increase in sporting characteristics and comfort in the latest 911 generation: the innovative turbocharged engines are more powerful and consume less, with the improved all-wheel drive increasing dynamics and driving safety. In addition, the adaptive PASM chassis (Porsche Active Suspension Management) with its ten-millimetre lower ride height included as standard enables an even greater spread between sporty circuit and relaxed long-distance driving. Rear-axle steering that is available as an option for the Carrera 4S models further increases the dynamic spectrum considerably. Interior functionality is enhanced by the standard-feature Porsche Communication (PCM) connectivity and infotainment system with simplified operation and multi-touch display.
Behind the re-engineered flat engines are more than four decades of Porsche experience with turbocharged engines from motor racing and production sports car. The result is that all new 911 Carrera models impress with top values in terms of performance, driving fun and efficiency. Thanks to bi-turbocharging, the three-litre, six-cylinder engines in the 911 Carrera 4 and 911 Targa 4 achieve an output of 370 hp (272 kW) and a torque of 450 Nm, while output in the S models increases to 420 hp (309 kW) and torque to 500 Nm. This gives the driver an added bonus of 20 hp (15 kW) of dynamic performance to convert into driving fun. The greater power of the Carrera S models comes from turbochargers with modified compressors, a specific exhaust system and tuned engine management.
The new Porsche 911 Carrera 4 and 911 Targa 4 will be launched in Germany as from the end of January 2016 at the following prices including VAT and country-specific equipment:
